Coffee Description
Mwasa 369 is a follow-on from one of our previous seasonal coffees - Mwasa 129.
In the cup you can expect strong notes of berries (blackberry, raspberry), citrus fruits (lemon, lime), a slight hint of baking spices, a complex acidity, and a smooth finish.
Mwasa 369 makes for the perfect filter coffee!
Mwasa is located in the Machuba Sector of Nyamasheke District, a co-operative owned station established in 2006. Established in 2006, Mwasa is a cooperative-owned station. The station lies at 1650masl, spanning over 3ha.
The station receives cherries from 16 co-op members and an additional 450 outgrowers. Farm sizes vary, from just 50 coffee trees, while larger farms boast up to 7,000 trees. Farmers transport their coffee on foot, as there is no transport infrastructure other than a footpath.
Mwasa is involved in environmental friendly growing practices - using organic fertilisers, produced by using the remains of coffee cherries; conscientious water using in the washing station; and intercropping, planting beans and legumes amidst coffee trees which aids in fixing the nutrients in the soil and provides food crop for the community.
The station has 48 raised beds and 5 sorting tables under a covered structure, where the parchment undergo a meticulous sorting even before being laid out on the bed to dry.
