We are excited to share with you our first Gesha from Colombia, a unique varietal with tea-like and floral qualities. In the cup, expect a strong taste of peach tea, a subtle hint of lemongrass with a silky mouthfeel. A beautiful, exotic coffee that would be perfect as a pour over or immersion brewing!

Since August 2020 the Agudelo Uribe family has owned El Refugio, turning it into a project that blends family time, contact with nature and a shared passion for specialty coffee. The 7.5-hectare farm is planted with exotic varietals — Gesha, Sidra, Bourbon and other Ethiopian lines — with an average plant age of just three years. Lying on the same cordillera as the Ruíz Volcano, the farm enjoys nutrient-rich volcanic soils.

The land, once devoted to cattle and pasture, has been re-forested with many native trees. These shade trees buffer wind, curb erosion and create an agroforestry system that fixes nitrogen. They also restore habitat and food sources for local wildlife, especially regional bird species.
